GOLDEN, Colo., June 20, 2017 – The Town of Yarmouth Water Utility, Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada was recently inducted into the Cast Iron Pipe Century Club. Yarmouth is a port town located on the Bay of Fundy in southwestern Nova Scotia, Canada. The presentation of the Century Club plaque was made at the Town Hall in Yarmouth. The pipeline that qualified the Yarmouth Water Utility was a 12-inch Cast Iron main installed in 1881 (136 years old) from Lake George to Main Street. This line is still in service today and serves as the town’s main transmission line.
Comments from the municipality are as follows: We like Cast & Ductile Iron’s “strength and durability." “I am expecting Ductile Iron to last as long or even longer than Cast Iron.”
Shown in the picture is Mr. David F. Ernst, P. Eng., Town Engineer.
